  • City National Bank Entrepreneur of the Year: April 29, 2011 :
    Honor the City national Bank “Entrepreneur of the Year”, Kingdom Partner Solutions, LLC Community Spirit Award and the Holthouse Carl & Van Trigt Corporate Citizen of the Year Award Recipients.

  • Business Red Team – To address retaining and attracting businesses to Long Beach by studying critical upcoming development projects looking at core industries/businesses underpinning local economy and exploring opportunities for building     greater economic development capacity.

Councils/Committees/Events

  • Government Affairs Council : (Chair: Joanne Davis, President- Davis Group ) Monitor, analyze, and develop policy recommendations on local, state, and federal legislations, and serve in a liaison capacity with elected officials. With contributions from the Council's sub-committees (including employment law, healthcare, and resources), the Government Affairs Council (GAC) procedures a Public Policy Hobs Platform each year.
  • Long Beach Pro Business Political Action Committee: (Co-Chair: Dave Neary, President- Westland Construction/Ristorante da Vinci, Co-Chair: Matt Kinley, Partner – Tredway, Lumsdaine, & Doyle LLP)- An organization of business people who are concerned about good government. Members work at strengthening the private-enterprise system by promoting pro-jobs issues, legislations, and candidates. Each summer, the PAC sponsors a “Candidates Academy” for those in the community who are interested in running for elected office.

  • National and California Visionary Leaders Luncheon Series: Provides members an opportunity to hear from top elected officials from the state and national level (previous speakers have included US Senator Dianne Feinstein, Secretary of State Bruce McPherson, Secretary of State Bill Jones, CA State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, Secretary Interior of the State, Dirk Kempthorne, 2010 Candidate for Governor, Meg Whitman, 2010 Candidate for U.S. Senate Carly Fiorina & 2010 Candidate for Governor Steve Poizner)

  • State of the County: December 8, 2010 the Chamber will host its 4th Annual State of the County Luncheon, to be delivered by Supervisor Don Knabe at the Long Beach Convention Center. This is the largest Chamber event of the year with over 1,250 in attendance.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Objective: To develop effective relationships and build collaborative efforts and share information with public and private entities to help market, support, and strengthen the Long Beach community at large.

    Plan and implement strategies for international business development and improve trade-related business through conferences and seminars. Plan and implement World Trade Week

  • State of the Port - January 28, 2011: Annual trade update from Dick Steinke (Executive Director, Port of Long Beach)

  • Women’s Council: (President: Marty Kurner, Business Development – Interior Office Solutions) Provide opportunities through networking and community development on numerous levels. Conduct annual fundraiser for scholarship awards for LBCC and CSULB female students.

  • Inaugural Gala - June 2011: Largest Chamber dinner event of the year. Awarding Destination Tomorrow Award and Industry Award recipients as well as paying tribute to our outgoing Chairman

  • Golf Classic- September 23, 2010: Organize the annual fundraising golf tournament, silent and live auction, and dinner at El Dorado Park Golf Course. This event is always a sell out.

  • Principal For A Day- November 2010: Coordinate the Long Beach Unified School District Principal for a Day Program where over 300 business members spend a day in local schools.

  • Chamber Cares: Non Profit Member Organizations, partnering with American Charities, make it simple to encourage employees of Long Beach businesses to donate locally to our non-profit members.
